Skills for Transition for NEETs: First Two Training Groups Completed in Bulgaria

The Institute for Technology Transfer and Innovations (ITTI) has successfully completed the training of the first two groups of participants in Bulgaria within the Skills for Transition for NEETs initiative.

The first group participated in the training from 19 to 23 August 2026, while the second group completed its training from 28 August to 3 September 2026.

The training is designed for young people aged 18–35 who are not currently in employment, education or training. Its aim is to strengthen practical knowledge and skills related to the green and social transition and to help participants recognise how these skills can be connected with everyday life, employment and entrepreneurship.

The training programme covered five main areas: climate change and sustainability, clean energy and energy efficiency, circular economy, green and digital entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship.

A strong emphasis was placed on practical and non-formal learning. Instead of relying mainly on lectures, the participants worked through discussions, practical exercises, teamwork, real-life examples and challenges.

They explored how climate change and the use of resources affect everyday life and local communities; how energy can be used more efficiently; how waste and used materials can be given new value; and how personal skills can be transformed into ideas for products and services.

Entrepreneurship was approached in a simple and practical way. Participants worked on identifying problems and needs, recognising potential customers, developing solutions, understanding basic costs and pricing, and considering how an idea could generate income while creating environmental or social value.

The training also encouraged participants to look differently at the skills and experience they already have. Practical abilities, creativity, knowledge of the local community and the capacity to solve everyday problems can all become valuable resources for employment and entrepreneurship.

Through the first two training groups, ITTI applied a learning-by-doing approach that connects sustainability with practical skills, initiative and real-life opportunities.

The Bulgarian training activities are implemented by the Institute for Technology Transfer and Innovations (ITTI) within Skills for Transition for NEETs, with the support of UniCredit Group.
